Kelvin Mischo, a sales rep from Wolfram Research, presented new features of Mathematica 7.0 to the department.
After the talk, Mr. Mischo did not stay to talk to the Math 300 class about life as a mathematician. Instead, the department's own Michael Bush answered our questions. We were interested to learn a little bit about the differences in culture between American and Australian mathematics. Professor Bush said that as an undergraduate, his courses almost never had textbooks. Instead, students were expected to learn all the material from attending lectures and reading lecture notes.
