Math 300: Dialogues in Mathematics
Course meets:
- Th noon-1pm for lunch in the Math Forum
- Th 1-2:50pm in Burton 307
Office hours: Monday 1-3pm, Wednesday 1-3pm, Thursday 3-4pm, and by appointment.
Course description: This course discusses the culture of mathematics and mathematicians. Specific topics include: applying to graduate school, taking GREs, getting letters of recommendation, building a support group, manging time, managing doubt, changing your mind, starting research.
Prerequisites: Permission of the instructor.
Course readings: Small readings will be posted on Moodle some weeks. Small writing assignments will be given other weeks.
