Mathematical sculpture constructed by students at Smith College for an undergraduate course in the Spring semester, 2000. The students worked with formulas and computer calculations and worked together to construct and weld a 2 m x 2 m (6'7" x 6'7") metal sculpture reproducing Boy's surface, an immersion of the projective plane in R^3 with no singularities. The sculpture is currently located in the Mathematics Department, 3rd floor Burton Hall, Smith College (just outside the doors connecting Burton Hall with Sabin Reed).
